Walking Around the Texas Capital…. Merry Christmas!

I took a walk from my office in downtown Austin to the Texas State Capital building and grounds on my lunch break a few days ago. The sun was shining and the temperature was about 74 degrees, not bad for a December day!

I’ve been to the Texas Capital a few times but I wanted to see if there were any Christmas decorations, and take a look at some of the statues and plaques.  I captured just a few statures and memorials, as well as a few historical pieces while I got some exercise and enjoyed the beauty of the day. Texas is a state with a rich history, being that it was once controlled by Mexico before becoming independent and then joining the United States of America. It is also the second largest stated and has the second largest population.

I may have been born and raised in Chicago, but I am proud to be a Texan! As the saying goes, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.”

Merry Christmas from Texas!
